Vernon Hill falls at Deerfield

Slow starts to start the game and again at the beginning of the second half hampered visiting Vernon Hills in a Central Suburban North girls basketball finale at Deerfield on Friday.

Deerfield prevailed 40-35.

"We started out down 9-0 and responded well to take the lead at halftime," said Vernon Hills coach Paul Brettner. "To start the third quarter they had an 8-0 run and had control the rest of the second half."

Becky Bahlmann paced the effort for Vernon Hills (12-15, 7-3) with 15 points and 8 rebounds.
