Love reading? Stop by Indie Author Day at the Schaumburg Library Oct. 13
If you love reading, know people who do, or need gifts for readers, come to Indie Author Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, in The Commons of the Schaumburg Township Library, 130 S. Roselle Road. Authors will be selling books for all ages in a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction genres, including romance, historical, sci-fi, mystery, crime, thriller, inspirational and much more.
Books for children, teens and adults will all be available, right from the authors who wrote them. All of the participating authors must have at least one independently-published book, and several will also be selling books published by mainstream publishing houses. Book shoppers will have the opportunity to peruse the tables, chat with authors, purchase books and have them signed. Some of the authors will also have giveaways and drawings.
Buying books is not the only feature of Indie Author Day. Anyone who has an interest in writing and/or getting published can use this opportunity to gain insight from authors, who will be happy to answer questions about story ideas, character development, plot twists and dialogue. You can also ask about the process of independently publishing a book or pitching a manuscript to an agent or publishing house editor.
There is no fee for attending Indie Author Day, and no registration required. Anyone is welcome to drop in between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and browse the tables, meet the authors and pick up new titles to enjoy or share with others. When you're done, peruse other areas of the library. Love movies? The Commons has a plethora of DVDs, including new releases. Children are welcome to get artistic in the kidsZone Craft Room, and teens are always welcome to check out Teen Place, with its state-of-the-art Digital Production Studio. Those who are trying to improve their English reading and writing skills may be interested in the ESL area on the second floor, where there are books and other resources for learning English and becoming a U.S. citizen. And the fiction area on the first floor has everything from classics to the hottest new titles.
These are just a few of the materials and resources available at the Schaumburg Township District Library. So come on Saturday, Oct. 13, for Indie Author Day, and stay for all the treasures that lie within the library's walls.
