America greater than symbols
Thirty years ago, I had "USA" tattoo plastered on my arm because of youth and pride. It's still my only tattoo. I wear it today with all the honor and heritage my grandparents carried across the Atlantic. America, however, is far greater than symbols and infinitely stronger than fabric. And while our flag will always hold an intimate sway in my heart, it does not represent who I am. That appreciation is driven by my individual fortitude. I am an American because of all that my grandparents accomplished at the turn of the previous century. If ever there was a purpose to accept that fact in today's political landscape, with such bombastic rhetoric pitting American against American, the way forward is always to ultimately understand and graciously go back to your roots.
