Zion man gets 22 years in prison for two drug offenses
A Zion man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for selling drugs to an undercover police officer.
Tavia Taylor, 26, of the 3400 block of Sheridan Road, was also sentenced to 7 years behind bars for supplying a fatal dose of heroin to a Round Lake Beach man, authorities said.
The prison sentence was issued Tuesday after Taylor pleaded guilty to two separate counts of delivery of a controlled substance, authorities said. Other charges, including drug-induced homicide, were dropped as part of a previous plea deal.
Taylor will serve the two sentences concurrently, will receive day-for-day credit in prison, and 883 days credit for time served in Lake County jail. Taylor was accused of selling narcotics to an undercover officer on 18 occasions, authorities said. Evidence from a police investigation showed Taylor supplied a fatal dose of heroin to Charles Oliba, 28, authorities said.
