Special Olympics athlete to lead Swedish Days parade

Mari Landwehr, an athlete with Special Olympics, has been named parade marshal for Geneva's Swedish Days parade.

The 19-year-old has been involved with Special Olympics and Fox Valley Special Recreation since 2012. She has competed in rhythmic gymnastics, swimming and unified golf. Landwehr competed in swimming, representing Team Illinois, at the U.S. Special Olympics in Orlando earlier this month and won a bronze medal with her relay team.

"The chamber is thrilled to honor Mari and her accomplishments," said Laura Rush, communications director for the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. "She has helped put Geneva on the map and represented her city well at the U.S. Special Olympics."

Swedish Day Festival runs June 22-26. For additional information, visit genevachamber.com.
