Batavia United Way names new executive director

The Batavia United Way board of directors recently named Kathy Evangelista as the new executive director.

Evangelista has been serving on the board since August of 2019 and has taken on the responsibility of interim director since September of 2022. She has played a pivotal role in planning and executing the ever-popular Bat Race over the past few years and Batavia United Way's "Success by 6" scholarship program.

Evangelista brings many years of nonprofit experience to her role as well as an enthusiasm for all things Batavia. She has lived in Batavia for the past 18 years with her husband and two sons. She is also a certified speech language pathologist and former professor so she brings with her a passion for access and equity for all in education and healthcare.

"I'm excited to continue to build on the strong foundation of community support that Batavia United Way provides," Evangelista said. "I have seen the good work that Batavia United Way does and am delighted to serve in this community that cares so much for its residents."
