Auditions set for Teen Talent Show

Teens who sing, dance, play in a band or even juggle or perform magic will want to put the finishing touches on their acts to be ready to audition for the Aurora Public Library's ninth annual Teen Talent Show and Competition.

Live auditions are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at the Eola Road Branch Library, 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora.

Auditions are limited to 3.5 minutes. All talents are welcome, and entrants do not need to be Aurora residents. Participants must be between the ages of 12 and 18 on the date of the competition, Saturday, Aug. 5.

A signed parental permission form (available to download at aurorapubliclibrary.org under Teens) is required. Forms also will be available at the auditions. There is no preregistration.

Performances will be judged by Aurora Public Library staff members. A CD player will be available for those singing to a background track. Performers will audition on a first-come, first-served basis.

The competition, planned by Aurora Public Library's Teen Committee, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Copley Theatre, 8 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora. A mandatory dress rehearsal is planned for the evening of Thursday, Aug. 3, also at the Copley Theatre.

Both the audition and the competition are free.

Last year's winner was Corinda Singphothignal, a Waubonsie Valley High School student, who will be the guest performer at this year's show.

The winner will receive a trophy. The performers, returning winner, hosts, judges and teen volunteers all donate their time and efforts to this community event.
