Pitching matchups: The Cubs' Cole Hamels (4-2) vs. Miles Mikolas at 1:20 p.m. Friday; Jon Lester (4-4) vs. Jack Flaherty (4-3) at 6:15 p.m. Saturday; Kyle Hendricks (6-4) vs. Adam Wainwright (5-5) at 6:07 p.m. Sunday.

At a glance: The two teams each have swept home series against the other this year, with the Cardinals taking three in St. Louis last weekend. Antioch High School graduate Paul DeJong continues to perform well at shortstop. He entered Thursday with a line of .275/.374/.472 with 8 homers and 26 RBI. Marcell Ozuna led the team with 16 homers. Paul Goldschmidt was at .271/.359/.449 with 12 homers and 27 RBI. The Cubs entered Thursday second in the National League in homers and on-base percentage. Hamels is 4-6 with a 2.48 ERA in 15 career starts against the Cardinals.
