Letter: A question of priorities

Only one week after a nut with a gun showed up at Justice Brett Kavanaugh's house, the U.S. Congress approved a bill providing around-the-clock protection for justices and their families.

Although no one was injured or killed in that single incident, the legislation passed with overwhelming bipartisan approval in both houses.

I'm not suggesting that SCOTUS heland their families shouldn't be kept safe from harm. But it does beg the question of why the Congress can't also pass meaningful legislation to protect children and teachers after literally hundreds of shooting incidents in schools spanning several decades and involving hundreds of deaths and hundreds more of injuries.
