New clerk is needed
Three to four million dollars. That is what DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek and her office have cost our county government. She did so by failing to properly file paperwork needed to collect sales tax revenues from marijuana sales with the Illinois Department of Revenue. The clerk's office in a statement said they sent in this paperwork, but did not keep any records of them doing so. This is a damning indictment of the job Kaczmarek has done as our clerk. Her office is the most disorganized and least functional in DuĀPage County. The clerk's office needs someone new in charge, someone with the knowledge and experience to ensure that at the very least, filing paperwork, one of the most basic functions of any government body, is done correctly and that there are records of them doing so. The people of DuPage County cannot afford the mistakes Jean Kazmarek continues to make. It is time for a change in November.
