Elk Grove twins face combined 18 charges in dispute with teens
Twin brothers are accused of threatening a group of teenagers with a pocketknife outside an Elk Grove Village school.
James and Jerald Koziol, both 39 and who live on the 600 block of Clover Hill Lane, were charged with nine counts of aggravated assault.
Officers went to Admiral Byrd Elementary School, 265 Wellington Ave., about 7:20 p.m. Saturday, May 7, on reports of an aggravated assault. A group of teenagers playing baseball reported that two men threatened them with a pocketknife, police said.
The brothers were playing basketball on a nearby court when a baseball flew in the direction of the basketball court, Deputy Chief Michael Gaspari said. During an argument, the men threatened the teens, Gaspari said. No one was injured.
Officers arrested two men a short time later near the intersection of Devon Avenue and Bay Drive, police said.
Both men were released on bail. If convicted of the misdemeanors, they face up to one year imprisonment and up to a $2,500 fine per offense. The Koziols are scheduled to appear at the Cook County courthouse at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 24.
