Des Plaines River Trail Bike Ride set for Saturday

Some 300 cyclists are expected to participate in Saturday's fifth annual Des Plaines River Trail Bike Ride, which starts and ends at the Historic Methodist Campground, organizers said.

The 9-mile ride along the river trail begins at 10 a.m., with food, entertainment and a raffle to follow. The event is organized by the Des Plaines Bike & Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Shift2Green and the Des Plaines Special Events Commission.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the campground, 1250 Joseph Schwab (Campground) Road. Participation is free, and helmets are required of all riders.
