Bicyclists race through Bartlett at inaugural Kickstand Classic
Bicycle racing came to Bartlett on Sunday as the village and the Active Transportation Alliance teamed up to host the inaugural Kickstand Classic bicycle races in the village's downtown.
Dozens of cyclists, from newbies to veteran riders, took part in the 10-, 14.5-, and 19-mile races. All of the races utilized a 4.8-mile loop around the village's downtown on mostly residential streets that were closed to vehicle traffic.
Proceeds benefited the Active Transportation Alliance, a Chicago-based advocacy group that works to improve conditions for bicycling, walking and transit and engage people in healthy and active ways to get around.
The first finisher in the Speedemon Class at the inaugural Bartlett Kickstand Classic crossed the finish line Sunday on recumbent bicycle.
