Lombard firefighters to wear pink in October

The Lombard Fire Department and Lombard Firefighters Union Local 3009 will once again wear custom pink T-shirts throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Residents are invited to purchase the same shirts and to take a group photo with Lombard firefighters at an open house Wednesday, Oct. 12.

The custom designed pink T-shirts can be ordered through Thursday, Sept. 1, for $15, at Fire Station 45, 50 E. St. Charles Road, Lombard. All proceeds will go to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital's Cancer Center. Shirts will be distributed near the end of September.

Residents are invited to wear their shirts in a group photo with Lombard firefighters during an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Fire Station 45. The open house will take place in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, and include games, an opportunity to know Lombard firefighters and to learn about the importance of working smoke alarms.
