Inverness Golf Club to expand business

INVERNESS - Inverness Golf Club has announced plans to expand its facilities, making activities available to members throughout the entire year.

Under plans approved by the board of directors of the club and the Inverness Village Board, construction will begin on a building addition that will add paddle and pickleball courts, indoor golf simulators, a sports bar, an ultracasual dining room, a new meeting room, and a lounge to allow members to work remotely before and after enjoying time at the club.

The club expects to break ground soon to get construction started with a targeted opening in early 2022.

According to current Inverness Golf Club Board President Kerry Lavelle, one of the primary reasons for the expansion is to add value to memberships by having a 12-month offering of activities. "In the Midwest, the seasons for golf, tennis, and swimming are limited by the weather," Lavelle said. "With these new sports and the indoor golf simulators, our members now have the ability to be active all year long. It really enhances their membership."

The golf club, currently offers golf, tennis, swimming, junior programs, dining, and many family events to members.

"Pickleball is actually one of the fastest growing sports in the country," said William Skelnik, Inverness Golf Club general manager and chief operating officer. "We will really be changing the nature of the club with these additions, both in terms of the activities offered and the range of dining options."
