Pritzker's budget address was pitiful

What kind of governor would base his new budget on taxing a product that is currently illegal and installing a graduated income tax that is also illegal. So it all depends on a gimmick of making these things legal, and a slew of other gimmicks.

And what nonsense to propose raising spending by over a billion dollars while we are broke and have supposedly $15 billion in unpaid bills.

There was no talk of a grand and painful compromise like:

• Get a graduated income tax

• Cut existing and future pensions

A non-strike clause with public unions and ending the incestuous relationship where the unions that pay for getting the politicians elected that will then vote for another raise and endless benefits

• Spend less than income and start paying off the debt

It was pitiful, and Madigan smiled and Cullerton smiled and nothing changed.

When will all these people realize that the "goose" that produce all the golden eggs is dying? Does it have to die and the rest of us with it?

I'm a frustrated farmer and businessman.
