Decency is the issue at McHenry fair
There must be a misunderstanding, as Mike Woloshin seems to think that protest over Ted Nugent performing at the McHenry County Fair is about politics.
No, Mr. Woloshin, the protest is about decency, something we are in short supply of lately.
Decency is not about being "politically correct". DECENCY is what we strive to teach our children and Decency is what we try to role model for our children. The fair, any county fair, is about family.
The Facebook page of the fair illustrates, in a video, children having an enjoyable day at the fairgrounds. It is advertised as being family friendly.
That's what I remember from all the county fairs I attended as a youngster.
The Music Night begins at 6 p.m. on a Saturday night. I know the lyrics of Mr. Nugent's songs cannot be printed here. Why? Because they are too indecent? Because they are sexually explicit and appeal to inner demons? Is "Jailbait" a song you would sing with your 13-year-old daughter?
No, it's not about Mr. Nugent's politics - that's for another discussion in decency. I, too, am proud to be an American, but I regret the loss of decency we used to have in our great country.
