American defender Matt Miazga makes winning Chelsea debut

LONDON (AP) - American defender Matt Miazga made a successful Chelsea debut as the team routed Aston Villa 4-0 in the English Premier League.

The New Jersey-born center-back, signed by Chelsea from New York Red Bulls for $5 million in January 2016, had an impressive start to his Premier League career as the 20-year-old helped his squad keep a clean sheet Saturday.

He was effective all over the pitch, almost scoring on a header saved by another American, Illinois native Brad Guzan.
