Hayes endorsement letter was inappropriate

That the mayor of Arlington Heights, Thomas W. Hayes, would send a letter to Arlington Heights residents to urge them to vote for a particular candidate is appalling!

Did he use taxpayer money for postage and paper? Did he do it on paid work time? How much of this expense came from tax dollars? To urge voters to vote for his candidate and to use his elected office as a reference in his letter is disgusting!

As an elected official, he should not be endorsing or supporting a candidate in such a blatant manner.

I understand that he will not be running again, and this may be his last hurrah, but even more so, shame on him for taking advantage of his office and the people he was elected to represent - all the people, not just one political party.

He needs to retract his letter and his words, and apologize.
