Haas Foundation grant opens doors to College of DuPage Manufacturing Technology Program
A $20,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation will increase access to the Manufacturing Technology program at College of DuPage for students at the college and area high schools offering dual credit manufacturing programs.
The grant program is designed to further manufacturing education, and promote increased awareness of the need for skilled workers and the availability of good jobs in the manufacturing industry.
Funds will be used to cover the tuition and fee costs of qualifying manufacturing technology program students.
"We are thrilled to receive $20,000 for student scholarships from the Gene Haas Foundation," said Jim Filipek, professor of manufacturing technology. "This along with several other scholarships demonstrates the need for skilled people in manufacturing and what companies are willing to do to attract them to the manufacturing program at College of DuPage."
The Manufacturing Technology program at College of DuPage provides hands-on cutting-edge training in a wide variety of skill areas of product manufacturing and services and offers degrees and certificates in automated manufacturing systems, drafting and design, manufacturing technology, and manufacturing engineering technology.
The college's state-of-the-art manufacturing lab features an array of contemporary equipment, including five HAAS CNC machining centers, a HAAS five-axis machining center, and four HAAS turning centers, as well as a full complement of metrology, design/drafting and metallurgical equipment.
