Five injured in Round Lake Beach head-on crash
Five people were hospitalized - two in critical condition - following a head-on collision Monday afternoon between two Toyota RAV4 SUVs on Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach, officials said.
The crash happened about 12:30 p.m. The eastbound SUV, which was being driven by a 54-year-old Fox Lake woman, crossed the center median and struck the westbound SUV, which was being driven by a 20-year-old Ingleside man, according to Round Lake Beach police.
Each driver was hospitalized, as were a 74-year-old Fox Lake man riding in the eastbound SUV and the two passengers in the westbound SUV - a 19-year-old from Chicago and a 7-year-old from Ingleside - officials said.
Police said both Fox Lake residents are in critical condition and the three people from the westbound SUV are currently listed in stable condition.
The crash shut down traffic along Rollins Road for several hours Monday afternoon. The crash remains under investigation.
