More than 220 flights canceled at Chicago airports due to East Coast storm

More than 170 flights were canceled at O'Hare International Airport Saturday as a massive winter storm pummels the East Coast.

Another 50 flights were grounded for the day at Midway, mostly due to the historic storm. But neither airport reported delays.

Travelers are encouraged to check their flight status via their airline's website.

ComEd, meanwhile, is sending more than 700 workers to assist the cleanup by electric utility crews in Philadelphia and Baltimore, where some of the heaviest snow was expected to fall.

The Chicago-based utility giant began sending its own crews on Thursday. Some were arriving on Saturday to help restore power and repair downed lines.
