Lake Villa Township man charged with stealing scooters, bicycle
A Lake Villa Township man has been charged with burglary and theft, accused of stealing two scooters and a bicycle from a house near Lake Villa.
Authorities said Monday they were called to the 25600 block of West Marshfield Drive in unincorporated Lake County for a burglary in process about 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
The victim was returning home and witnessed two people near her residence with her two scooters and a bicycle, authorities said. The items were taken from a shed on her property, authorities said.
Lake County sheriff's deputies were called and quickly located Daniel Morales, 29, of the 37000 block of North Piper Lane, with one of the scooters. He also lied to police about his name, authorities said.
The second person was able to run away before police arrived.
Morales was charged with felony burglary, and misdemeanor counts of theft and obstructing identification. He remains held in Lake County jail on $50,000 bail and due back in court Nov. 1.
