Des Plaines Kiwanis Provide Shoes for Kids
The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines recently completed their annual Shoes for Kids event. Kiwanis members met 102 children at a local store to shop for new boots or shoes for the winter. Funds for the annual service project were raised through the Peanut Day fundraiser.
The club is part of Kiwanis International, a global organization of members of every age who are dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines began serving the community in 1941. The Kiwanis family includes the Key Club at Maine West High School and the future Builders Club at Algonquin Middle School.
Lunch meetings are held on Tuesdays at 12:15 pm at the Elks Club, 495 Lee St. Evening meetings begin at 7 pm on the first Thursday of the month at the Leisure Center, 2222 Birch St. New members are always welcome. For more information, or to volunteer to help, contact Brenda at (847) 827-3406.
