Vote for candidate most in touch with district
I am very disappointed in your editorial endorsement of Peter Roskam. You reference a few examples of him opposing Trump but fail to mention that he supported Trump on over 94 percent of his votes.
The only accurate statement in your endorsement is when you state that "Sean Casten is steeped in the issues important to the district, a strong and effective spokesman on issues of climate change [which Roskam called junk science] and a credible voice on economic and business issues." You follow that by saying that Sean is running a campaign that raises questions on how likely he would be bipartisan; but you give absolutely no evidence of that. Roskam has proved to be one of the most partisan members in Congress, voting with the Republican leadership on over 95 percent of his votes.
Casten is the only candidate in this race that supports sensible gun legislation (such as background checks and an assault rifle ban), will protect a woman's right to choose, support legislation to restrict the Trump's radical and hateful agenda, protect the special prosecutor, vote to extend the Violence Against Women Act (which expired) and propose strong creative legislation to control climate change and protect the environment.
Roskam, by contrast, opposes most gun reforms (received thousands in NRA donations), is radically anti-choice, refuses to co-sponsor any legislation to control Trump, opposed the VAWA, called climate change junk science and has extremely low ratings from all environmental groups.
