Girls soccer: VanZanten scores 4 goals for Stevenson

Kalyssa VanZanten scored 4 goals, Gracie Wingfield added 3 goals and an assist, and Stevenson's girls soccer team defeated Zion-Benton 12-0 in North Suburban Conference action Thursday.

Madison Kim had 2 goals and an assist for the Patriots (10-1-2), whose other contributors included Abby Kalou (assist), Krissy Hill (goal, 2 assists), Myah Schoolman (goal, assist), Tess Koleno (assist), Emma Ramagnano (2 assists) and Alyssa Bende (goal, assist).

Jenny Staten (0 saves) and Nikki Kolze (1 save) shared the shutout.

Libertyville 4, Warren 1: The Wildcats got goals from Natalie Czajka, Alex Houser, Helena Janczak and Brynn Miller in the North Suburban Conference match.

Libertyville keeper Kendall Edwards made 5 saves.

Warren (6-5-1, 1-1) got its goal from Cate Cullison, assisted by Courtney Chomko.

Vernon Hills 2, Carmel 2: Down 2-0 at halftime, Vernon Hills pulled out a draw in the nonconference match.

Julia Neary and Lily Blase scored for Vernon Hills (4-4-4), and Marley Reback had an assist.

"Carmel came out and physically dominated us in the first half," Cougars coach Mike McCaulou said. "They put us under pressure for those first 40 minutes. It was really nice to see our girls show some resiliency in the second half to battle for a result."

Mundelein 6, Waukegan 0: Gigi Sahagun had 3 goals and an assist, as the visiting Mustangs won in North Suburban Conference action.

Nicole Robb added a pair of goals and an assist for Mundelein (4-5, 1-1), while Addison Spilman had a goal and 2 assists.
