Gary woman found stabbed to death with man identified

GARY, Ind. (AP) - A 38-year-old woman has been identified as one of the two people who police found stabbed to death in Gary.

The Lake County Coroner's Office identified her Thursday as Aretha Laster.

Gary police say officers conducting a welfare check at her home shortly before noon Wednesday found her and a still unidentified man dead from multiple stab wounds.

Police are treating the deaths as homicides.

Cpl. Douglas Drummond says the man's name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
