Willows Academy To Host Open House Sunday Nov 5
Willows Academy, a college-preparatory school for young women grades 6 through 12, will host its annual fall open house on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 12 to 2pm. The event offers prospective students and their families a chance to experience Willows first hand.
"One of the things that makes Willows unique is the family atmosphere," said Kathy Ferry, director of admissions. "It's something that needs to be experienced to be understood, which is why we encourage families to come see what we are all about."
Prospective students and their families will be given a tour by one of the Willows student ambassadors. Throughout the tour, they will have the chance to ask questions and speak with teachers in each department. Visitors will also have the chance to participate in a variety of science experiments and talk one-on-one with current students, club leaders, and student council representatives.
"The tour is designed to give prospective students a snapshot view of life at Willows," said Ferry. "From engaging with current students, talking with faculty members, partaking in experiments and seeing first hand the bright and lively classrooms, they are able to walk away with a pretty clear picture of what it's like to be an Eagle."
Beyond the tour, visitors can attend a breakout session with the administration to learn more about the mission of the school, and the value of all-girls education.
"This year we were named the #2 best all-girls high school in Illinois by niche.com and I believe that is because of our focus on the development of the whole person," said Jeanne Petros, executive director of Willows Academy. "We aren't just focused on a student's academic growth, but also on her personal, cultural and spiritual growth."
With more than 40 years experience in educating young women, Willows has made a name for itself. This year, it was named the #2 best all-girls high school in Illinois by niche.com. Graduates attend top universities such as Notre Dame, University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins, and University of Illinois, and the school has a 100% college placement rate.
