Symbolism, not substance
I have lost much respect for professional athletes who "take the knee." "Taking the knee" does nothing to address the problems of injustice, inequity and poverty. It appears to only make the athletes feel good about themselves.
With their multimillion dollar cash flows, they have the resources to do much collectively to correct the problems. Yet, they resort to hypocritical symbolism and refuse to do anything of genuine substance.
They appear to embrace a common governmental action from the past, which promoted symbolism over substance. The failed government socialist policies destroyed many intact families in the inner cities, promoting more dependency on government and less selfÂ-reliance and self esteem.
Say, athletes ... how about putting your money where your "knees" are and accomplish something of substance?
