Online membership platform Skillinker launched to pair freelance teams with businesses
NAPERVILLE,IL - Mark Breithaupt, founder of Skillinker, is pleased to announce the launch of the company's online membership site, which provides freelancers the networking capabilities to form teams and link them with businesses in need of a fully functional unit.
The Naperville, Illinois-based startup was founded in August by Breithaupt, a marketing freelancer himself, amidst the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
"I've had the idea for Skillinker for about 10 years," Breithaupt said. "I knew I needed to launch the platform I've had in mind for so long after hearing from many freelance friends and past colleagues that they had been furloughed or lost their jobs due to COVID-19 and needed somewhere to re-connect with other freelancers and source jobs. Ultimately, we would like to see these teams grow into full-fledged small businesses. So, we view Skillinker as an as online incubator of sorts."
Once registered on Skillinker, freelancers can begin connecting with other freelancers whose skillset aligns with, or complements, theirs. For example, a creative director could link with an art director, graphic designer, copy writer and project manager and launch a marketing agency. Or an interior designer could partner with an architect, structural engineer and contractor in order to renovate homes. The industry types and possibilities are endless.
The freelancers can invite others to join their team or get recruited by already existing teams to then get hired for short-term projects, long-term contract work or even full-time employment. On the employer side, once registered on Skillinker the employer can post a job for qualified Skillinker teams to review and consider.
Employers receive proposals and connect with the teams which best meet its criteria and then choose the Skillinker team which aligns with its objectives, timeline and budget.
"Although the site is in its infancy stages, I'm confident our membership numbers will grow quickly," added Breithaupt. "The differentiator at Skillinker is that employers can hire already established freelance teams with proven success in working together. This removes the uncertainty and saves time, money and a lot of potential headaches."
For a limited time and as a thank you for being one of its first members, Skillinker is offering a free subscription to freelancers and employers. To register on Skillinker for free, visit skillinker.com/register-2/.
