Heartwarming generosity for winter clothing drive
I want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated new and gently used winter clothing to our Winter Wear Drive. Together, we are helping DuPagePads keep people safe and warm through the coming winter.
We used our office as a drop-off point for the clothing drive, and I'm happy to share that we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our constituents. The numbers of coats, hats, boots, and other essential warm clothes we received were just phenomenal. I can't say enough good things about the generosity of the Lombard Junior Women's Club. When they heard about our Winter Wear Drive, they organized a massive group donation. The club treasurer, Diane Addante, then took on the task of dropping off the Club's donated clothing at our office. We are so grateful to everyone who took part in this group effort.
We also want to give special mention to Jayne Boeckelman and her daughter, Amy Hohulin, who received a $250 grant from Thrivent Financial to purchase new winter items for PADS. Along with new clothes, they also collected many gently used items. We were astounded when they came in carrying stacks of boxes and bags filled with warm clothes.
For 35 years, DuPagePads has been a beacon of hope for people who are experiencing homelessness. I encourage everyone to continue donating new and gently used winter clothes to help bring comfort and security to our neighbors in need. You can drop off donations at their Client Service Center, at 703 West Liberty Drive in Wheaton.
