Woman identified in fatal Lindenhurst crash
A 61-year-old woman has been identified as the person who died when she was struck by a car Sunday evening while trying to cross Route 45 in Lindenhurst, authorities said.
Victoria Sowka died of multiple traumatic injuries she suffered in the crash about 5:30 p.m., Lake County coroner officials said in a news release Tuesday. Toxicology results are still pending, officials said.
Sowka was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue driven by a 38-year-old Waukegan man near Falling Waters Drive in Lindenhurst, authorities said.
Sowka was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
An investigation is ongoing by Lindenhurst police, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, and the coroner's office.
