Newest 19th Judicial Circuit Court judge has busy weekend

Submitted by Pamela Shadell

The newest associate judge appointed to the 19th Judicial Circuit Court, Judge Reginald Mathews, was the keynote speaker at the Employee Connections Inc. 10th anniversary gala held in Waukegan, before dashing to Mundelein to receive the 2018 Sapphire Award as a Trailblazer in Lake County presented by the Phi Beta Sigma organization on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Mathews, a lifelong resident of Lake County, has made an impact on the community through commitment, enforcement of the law, and leadership. Prior to his appointment as an associate judge, Mathews, a father of two daughters, served in the Lake County State's Attorney office for 17 years.

He attended Western Illinois University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement administration in 1994. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University in 2001.

Currently, he serves his community as a role model by giving back as a director of children's church at First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church and supporting many community causes.
