Northwest Fourth-Fest returns to Sears Centre
Northwest Fourth-Fest brings live entertainment, a carnival, fireworks, food and more to the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates from Friday, June 30, through Tuesday, July 4.
Musical acts performing Friday through Sunday on the main stage on the adjacent Village Green include Generation, Brock and Adams, Hi Infidelity, Voyager, The Gingers, and 7th heaven.
The fireworks display - touted as the largest in the region - is at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2.
There's an arts & crafts fair inside the Sears Centre, 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway, Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2.
There will be a petting zoo from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Pony rides, sponsored by the Schaumburg Township District Library, will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
A rock-climbing wall will be available from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, while a spider climb will be open 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
A pie-eating contest, sponsored by Mariano's, will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday for ages 16 and older.
The Fourth of July Parade is at a different location from the rest of the festival, stepping off from the intersection of Hassell and Hilltop in Hoffman Estates at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, and moving west on Hassell to Huntington, near the village hall. The parade theme this year is "Celebrating Everyday Heroes."
Only the carnival will be going on at the Sears Centre Monday and Tuesday. Monday's hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Tuesday's are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to the festival and live entertainment are free. Food, beverages and the carnival rides are an extra cost.
Hoffman Estates' annual Fourth of July celebration on the village hall grounds graduated to the more regional Northwest Fourth-Fest in 2012, thanks to the availability of the village-owned Sears Centre.
Original partners Elgin and Hanover Park eventually withdrew their participation, however. But Hanover Township and the Hoffman Estates Park District continue to be co-presenters of Northwest Fourth-Fest with the village of Hoffman Estates this year.
