Ziegler Ace Hardware Christmas tree sale to benefit Ecker Center

Ziegler Ace Hardware, 215 N. Spring St., in downtown Elgin will Christmas tree sales to benefit Ecker Center for Mental Health. The sales will begin Friday, Nov. 23, the day after Thanksgiving, and run through Monday, Dec. 19.

This program is a continuation of the traditional tree sales, which used to be conducted at Larkin Center until it closed in 2013.

Trees and wreaths will be provided by the same vendor - Windy Hill Christmas tree Farm in Gleason, Wisconsin.

It's a community thing," said Kay Catlin, events manager for Ecker Center. "It's lovely trees, fresh, right from the farm. It's not ... your basic tree lot that pops up in any parking lot. This is a family owned place and they are beautiful trees."

Sales will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the programs and services of Ecker Center, which has been serving the needs of area residents since 1955.

The tree sale usually nets about $1,000 for the center, which currently is in need of psychiatry services, Catlin said.
