Run gives St. Charles reason to HOPE
As if the fabulous spring weather didn't provide reason enough to get outside Sunday morning, the dozens of runners who took to the Norris Stadium Track at St. Charles East High School had a great cause to get behind.
The school's HOPE (Helping Others Protect Each other) Club hosted its annual 5K race and fun run/walk to promote positivity and increase awareness and prevention of problems like depression and suicide within the community.
Unlike most other 5K runs, winning or beating personal best times took a back seat to teamwork, positive vibes and uplifting messages.
Kelly Purse, a HOPE club adviser at St. Charles East High School, registers Kaitlyn Andrey, 15, for Sunday's the HOPE Hustle 5K race and fun run/walk to promote positivity and increase awareness and prevention of problems like depression and suicide.
