Mundelein water supply to be interrupted starting Wednesday morning

Mundelein’s water supply from Lake Michigan will temporarily be interrupted starting about 8 a.m. Wednesday — but water service to residents and businesses shouldn’t be significantly affected, officials said.

The Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency, which provides potable water to Mundelein and other communities, is shutting off the usual water supply to conduct system maintenance, according to a social media post from the village.

The interruption is expected to last between 24 and 30 hours. Mundelein’s water supply may be supplemented by water from wells during the shutdown. While water during the shutdown may taste or smell different, officials insist it will meet state drinking water standards and be safe to consume.

Mundelein officials will use mundelein.org and the village’s social media pages to announce when the regular water supply has resumed.
