Suburban kidnapping leads to charges
A suburban man is accused of attacking and kidnapping a woman he knew while they were in Palatine, authorities said Saturday.
Matthew N. Dominiak, 23, of Tinley Park, is charged with felony aggravated kidnapping, felony aggravated battery on a public way and misdemeanor battery.
The attack occurred Wednesday afternoon. Palatine police received a report of a man attacking a woman on the 1500 block of North Winslowe Drive and then leaving together in a black Nissan Sentra, according to a news release.
About 2:30 p.m., police received a call of a disturbance involving a man and a woman on the 400 block of East Palatine Road and determined the incidents were related.
Police later spotted and pursued the Sentra in Chicago until it crashed. Dominiak and the woman were inside, and he was arrested, Palatine police said.
The woman was hurt, but not seriously, police said.
Dominiak was scheduled to appear in court Saturday in Chicago for a detention hearing.
