I want results from my lawmaker
I’m writing in response to the editorial board's inconsistent endorsement for Illinois House District 47. I can't help but reflect on previous endorsements from the Daily Herald’s editorial staff that went to an ineffective representative because of her opponent's lack of experience. And here we are again, with an endorsement for a man with no experience over a woman who has been elected to office multiple times and shows up for her constituents.
Where are Robert Vrankovich's plans? Reading the Herald's own endorsement, his ideas that you present as competitive are simply buzzword phrases. Erica Bray-Parker’s are actual strategies addressing the needs of our district and state. You mention a slight edge, but the difference is pretty clear.
For constituents, Vrankovich is avoidant. He declined to attend the League of Women Voters forum and blocks people who ask him questions on his Facebook posts. If this is indicative of his leadership style, he will be more of the same.
The reality is, as someone who lives in District 47, we have had Republican “representation” here for nearly 30 years that has yielded nothing for us except dismissiveness and avoidance. The representative has spent time fighting public education, trying to revive the expired Invest in Kids voucher program tax scheme. What we need is change.
Erica brings a fair and impartial perspective to her leadership and will do the same in Springfield, even with a "D" by her name. I’m not voting on catchy buzzwords. I’m voting for results, something Erica has demonstrated as an elected member of the Wheaton City Council — which our district has not had under Republican representation.
