Q&A

Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

I was born in Mississippi before the Civil Rights Act was passed. Growing up, I listened to my grandparents describe the fear they faced while fighting for the right to vote. Their stories stayed with me. They taught me that the ballot is precious and that access to it must be protected.

That belief is why I’m running for Kane County Clerk. I want every eligible voter to understand the process, trust the process, and have a fair opportunity to take part.

If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of any important initiatives you’ve led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the position and what would your priority be?

During the primary election, I advocated for greater transparency through public tours of the Clerk’s Office, allowing voters to see the voting process from start to finish. I also proposed adding ballot tracking to the Clerk’s website. Both initiatives have since been implemented. I will continue these efforts and pursue additional ways to make the office and voting more accessible to all residents.

Name one concrete program you’ll create or personnel move you’ll make to improve efficiency in the office or make it more successful. Explain how it will be funded and how you will overcome any obstacles to initiating it.

I will continue the initiatives I proposed that have since been implemented in the Clerk's Office.

How secure are you in the knowledge that election results in the county are reported fairly and accurately? Please explain why.

Every polling place is ran by trained election judges from both major political parties.
