Famed wrestler died of asthma attack in Des Plaines, officials say
A famed professional wrestler who died last month after a match in the suburbs suffered a fatal asthma attack, authorities confirmed Monday.
Benjamin Satterley, 40, who performed under the name “Pac,” was found dead Sept. 27 in Des Plaines. An autopsy revealed the respiratory condition caused his death, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Satterley’s body was spotted in a rental car on the 2700 block of Mannheim Road, less than one mile from O’Hare International Airport. Satterley was alone and in the driver’s seat when he was found, authorities said, and there were no signs of foul play.
A respiratory inhaler was found in a backpack in the car’s trunk, a Des Plaines police spokesperson said Monday.
Satterley was part of Florida-based All Elite Wrestling. He was in the Chicago area that weekend for the company’s All Out promotion at the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates.
Satterley previously had wrestled in other organizations, including in WWE under the ring names “Adrian Neville” and then “Neville.”
Over 28 million people in the U.S. have asthma, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. It can be triggered by pollution, allergens, stress and other factors.
On average, between 9 and 11 people in the U.S. die from asthma daily, the foundation reports.
Avoiding triggers, taking medications to prevent symptoms and being prepared to treat asthma episodes if they occur are the best ways to manage asthma, the foundation said.
