Review of special financing district for downtown Antioch advances
A key step was taken this week to establish a special financing district to spark reinvestment and improvements in downtown Antioch.
After a presentation by consultant SB Friedman Development Advisors, the Antioch Joint Review Board recommended creating a downtown tax increment financing district, covering 203 parcels and about 108 acres in and around downtown.
The redevelopment plan is designed to help address infrastructure needs, building conditions, and redevelopment barriers that can make private investment more difficult.
The next step is a public hearing Nov. 12 during the village board meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. at 935 Skidmore Drive.
Community members, property owners, businesses, and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend, learn more about the proposed plan, and share their input.
