Pedestrian fatally struck by car in Wheeling; Hintz Road closed

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Wheeling, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 6:20 a.m. on Hintz Road east of Wheeling Road. The pedestrian, a 68-year-old man whose name hasn’t been released by authorities, was hit by a 1998 Toyota Avalon that had been headed east, police said. The man died on the scene.
The driver, a 36-year-old man, reportedly is cooperating with police.

All lanes of Hintz Road are closed between Wheeling and Wolf roads as Wheeling police and the Major Case Assistance Team’s crash reconstruction unit investigate.
