Maine West Theatre to put on ‘Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood’

Maine West High School Theatre’s fall production will be “Marian, or the True Tale of Robin Hood,” a fresh, funny, and adventurous retelling of the legendary Robin Hood story.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Oct. 15-17, in the Maine West auditorium, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. Tickets are $12 or $7 for students. Tickets may be purchased online at mwfinearts.ludus.com or at the door.

This lively theatrical adventure shifts the spotlight to Marian, the clever and courageous woman who has been at the center of the story all along. Filled with humor, action, romance, and plenty of surprises, it offers a playful new take on one of the world’s most enduring legends.

The production features the talented students of Maine West High School Theatre, who bring the characters, comedy, and adventure of Sherwood Forest to life onstage. With a running time under 90 minutes, audiences can expect a fast-paced theatrical experience filled with larger-than-life characters, unexpected twists, and plenty of fight choreography and swordplay.

“This production is an excellent way to kick off our season,” said David Harmon, Maine West fine arts teacher and play director. “There are a plethora of featured roles that give several students a chance to spotlight their talents. Between the epic choreography, larger-than-life characters and topical themes around gender and representation, this story was the perfect choice for us this fall.”

Note that this performance is rated PG-13 as there are some adult themes that might be better suited for a more mature audience.

Audiences are invited to join Marian, Robin Hood and the rest of the Sherwood Forest gang for an unforgettable theatrical adventure.
