Oswego’s Good Shepherd UMC welcomes new pastor

“We're on a journey together.”

That was the message from the Rev. Eunbae Doh in his inaugural sermon at Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist in Oswego Sunday, Oct. 4.

Rev. Doh became Good Shepherd's 62nd pastor since the church's founding in 1861. He succeeded the Rev. Steve Good who retired Oct. 1 after 39 years in ministry, 10 years in Oswego.

On UMC World Communion Sunday, Pastor Doh preached on “Your Spiritual Resume.” Citing highlights of his 35 years in pastoral ministry and displaying a copy of his resume, Rev. Doh said, “I'm here to bring Jesus Christ.” He asked congregants, “What is on your spiritual resume? It's time to let go. Choose what really matters.”

In addition to delivering his sermon, Rev. Doh assisted liturgist Kim Mattern in serving Communion to congregants.

Pastor Doh comes to Good Shepherd after serving as lead pastor at Naperville Wesley UMC since 2025. Earlier he served as senior pastor at Channahon UMC, Church of the Incarnation, Arlington Heights and Calvary UMC, Stockton. He also served as associate pastor at Baker Memorial UMC, St. Charles; and Manna Korean UMC. He began pastoral ministry as a military chaplain in the Republic of Korea Army, where he conducted religious rites, offered counseling to service members and their families and coordinated with civilian faith leaders to provide religious support beyond military resources.

Rev. Doh received his master of theology from Korea Methodist University and a master's degree in religious communication from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He is a certified conflict mediator and a member of the Commission of Christian Unity and Interreligious relations.
