The qualities that distinguish capitalism, communism

Socialism is an economic and political theory that holds that the public, as a group, owns and administers all means of production. Communism is the advanced form of socialism.

Communism is an economic and political system that demands collective ownership of all property and eliminates all private property. Both are controlled by an appointed leader.

In these forms of governance, all people are exactly equal. Communism is the most perfect form of government, where everyone is equal. But it’s impossible to achieve because most people have ambition and strive for a better life.

A Democratic republic is led by an elected person. The nation’s people elect the leader through a voting system. An elected group, not a single individual, enacts the country's laws and rules. It allows for personal property and, most of all, advancement based on ability and motivation.

These qualities are the main difference between the two systems. One lets personal achievement shape people's lives, while the other disincentivizes personal merit. Simply put, in socialism and communism, your achievements are for the collective group. In our republic (a capitalist style of governance), you can strive to better yourself and your family based on your personal drive.

You choose which form of government you want to leave to your kids and grandkids.
