District 214 superintendent's ask

The opinion piece in the Sept. 27 Daily Herald by High School District 214 Superintendent Scott Rowe is the latest effort in the district’s campaign to tout the $295 million bond referendum on the Nov. 3 ballot. In the interest of transparency, Rowe should have stated that his 2026-27 salary is $321,059 with a $500 per month transportation stipend, board-paid family medical insurance and 20 days of vacation this school year and 25 days thereafter. Sweet.

His guesstimate of a $14 a month cost to residents (with a $400,000 home) should be viewed in light of the fact that this cost or any cost would not impact his family since he does not even reside in District 214. No wonder it’s an easy ask.
