Aurora Regional Fire Museum hosts ninth annual Community Hero Day Oct. 3
The Aurora Regional Fire Museum, 53 N. Broadway, is hosting the ninth annual Community Hero Day on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This free, family-friendly, event celebrates the community’s heroes with engaging activities, demonstrations, and educational opportunities.
Community Hero Day will feature a wide range of attractions including a touch-a-truck experience, fire truck rides, live fire department demonstrations, free hands-only CPR classes, face painting, and more.
The Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board will hold a live fire demonstration at 1 p.m. Witness firsthand how quickly fires can spread and learn about the life-saving importance of fire sprinklers.
Event highlights include:
• Touch-a-Truck with over a dozen vehicles from local organizations.
• Free fire truck rides, courtesy of O'Leary's Fire Truck Tours
• Tours of Aurora’s Central Fire Station, offered by the Aurora Fire Department.
• Hands-only CPR class to learn how to save a life in an emergency.
• Safety information booths
• Community blood drive
• Tasty eats available for purchase from Strawberries BBQ
• Free admission to the Aurora Regional Fire Museum at no cost.
• Live DJ with family-friendly music throughout the event.
“Community Hero Day has become a tradition that our community looks forward to each year,” said Brian Failing, executive director of the Aurora Regional Fire Museum. “It’s an opportunity to bring people together, recognize the heroes who help keep us safe, and celebrate the organizations and individuals who make public safety a shared community effort.
