Film historian to talk on ‘The Women Who Built Hollywood’

Learn about “The Women Who Built Hollywood” at the next meeting of the Elmhurst Branch of the American Association of Women. It will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave.

Women have been highly influential in the film industry ever since the Silent Era, both on-screen and off. Join film historian Annette Bochenek for a presentation about the lives and legacies of some of classic Hollywood’s incredible female directors and stars who possessed a keen sense of business acumen and innovation during the early days of the film industry.

The program will include a multimedia presentation consisting of photos, video clips, and captivating stories.

Bochenek is a film historian, professor, and avid scholar of Hollywood’s Golden Age. She manages the “Hometowns to Hollywood” blog where she profiles her trips to the hometowns of classic Hollywood stars. She has been featured on the Turner Classic Movie network in addition to writing a regular column on Classic Movie Hub, and articles for numerous publications related to the film industry.
