Algonquin man identified as crash victim

A man from Algonquin was identified as the sole victim in a fatal car crash Friday night in Burlington Township, police said Wednesday.

About 5:50 p.m., Kane County sheriff's deputies received a report of a crash with injuries on Plato Road at Burlington Road.

George Vallejo, 82, was driving a GMC Envoy west on Plato Road when he left the road, struck a utility pole and rolled over, the sheriff's office said.

Vallejo was taken to an Elgin hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
